10313+ #poem Two lanes each way ( slightly revised)

Recently written to order, during my lunch break, with a deadline of "today would be nice", for Pearl Magazine. You can see the original on page 46 of the March edition of Pearl, a free music, arts, events and entertainment magazine on the Mornington Peninsula. Thanks to Andrea Louise Thomas for the invitation.

This version features modifications.

Two lanes each way

cars bypass
the stop
go circus
glide on the ton
past Alice's cocktail
and Dubai skyline
above the ram's skull
red-brown
with the rust of inland drought
and the slow tree
of silver wind
ooparts
that signal ramps
to suburbs and towns
pastures
vineyards
galleries and beaches
on the green peninsula wonderland
a lush branch of many cultures
amid the bare blue mask
of encircling tides
